Digging tunnels and foraging are the main activities of rabbits, when they don’t have to worry about predators. Our enclosure has a 2′ deep barrier to keep them from digging out, and predators from getting in.
Our does live in a colony together. After weaning, the bucks are separated. Our herd bucks live on our front porch so we can socialize with them daily. The grow-outs live in “rabbit tractors” that we can move around the property so they can forage.
Our herd rabbits and grow-outs get love and attention every day. They receive veterinary care as needed, rabbit-safe table scraps, and regularly have their nails trimmed.
