Our does live in a colony together. After weaning, the bucks are separated from them. Our herd bucks live on our front porch so we can socialize with them daily. The grow-outs live in “rabbit tractors” that we can move around the property so they can forage.
Digging tunnels and foraging are the main activities of rabbits, when they don’t have to worry about predators. Our enclosure has a 2′ deep barrier to keep them from digging out, and predators from getting in.
Our herd rabbits and grow-outs get love and attention every day. They receive veterinary care as needed, rabbit-safe table scraps, and regularly have their nails trimmed.
